Other, more effective things she could've done:
1. Not gotten pregnant.
2. Told a doctor she was pregnant.
3. Gone to the doctor when she felt contractions.

To prevent such happenings I don't shower.
It's a normal day and you're innocently taking a shower at 5:30, getting ready for school. Then the Coalition of Secret Babies strikes! Suddenly you're in labor!!! These are the scariest kinds of babies, terrorists that are the opposite of martyrs.
She was very clever because of all the money she saved by having the baby at home. She didn't even have to hire a house wife!

i'm not sure what this house wife thing is... perhaps some lesbian latin american domestic partnership for hire, but wouldn't it be called and esposa de casa? as far as i know there is no American custom of hiring housewives, i believe that's some sort of prostitution
at least she didn't have to hire a midwife though
