I'm Glad They Stopped Trying To Package Rihanna As An "Island" Artist

I've never heard Rihanna's first album, but I'm pretty sure it's very island-themed. Her newest album has hardly any traces of a Caribbean influence. Her second album acts as a bridge in between the two; I assume they were trying to move her out of a niche market and into the mainstream, and I'm so glad they did because one can only listen to so many songs with reggae guitar and drums but with an R&B voice over them. So, anyway, Rihanna's journey has been one of successful innovation not only in marketing strategy, but also artistic innovation, because now her songs are a lot more aesthetically pleasing. So, go Rihanna! Buy her records.

Also, buy other records like Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. I've heard a lot about how this album is so good, but I never really enjoyed all of The Beach Boys surfing songs. I mean, after a while, they all tend to blend together. I always liked "Good Vibrations" though because it's an incredibly complex piece of music, especially for a pop single. Anyway, Pet Sounds shows off Brian Wilson's amazing production and songwriting skills as well as the trademark Beach Boys harmonies. It's a really good album.
